OpenAI has a great track record with the AI boom, but they have no plans to slow down. Recently, OpenAI stated that they will be investing heavily in building data centers and aiming to reach 1 billion users in the coming year through a partnership with Apple.
Since its launch two years ago ChatGPT Since then, OpenAI has reached 250 million weekly active users, and Sarah Friar, CFO of OpenAI, said the company is in a rapid growth phase and will continue to invest in the development of advanced AI models. In the future, the company expects to reach its goal of 1 billion users through the launch of the AI Agent and its partnership with Apple. In addition, OpenAI will increase its investment in data center construction to meet growing demand. Chris Lehane, Director of Policy, emphasized that OpenAI views "chip, data, and energy" as key resources for the AI competition, and has plans to build additional data centers in the Midwest and Southwest regions of the U.S. to meet demand.
In terms of the external environment, Lehane said OpenAI holds similar views to the Trump administration on the national security and economic competitiveness of AI, and wants to lead the development of 'democratic AI' led by the US to counter the Chinese-led model. He noted that the next few years will see a global historical turnaround, and governments will need to establish public-private partnerships similar to the utility model to equitably distribute AI technology and the benefits it brings.
