Google Launches 'Daily Listen' to Turn Your Interests into Podcasts

Would you like to have a podcast auto-played directly from your phone's news stream based on your interests? Google's new "Daily Listen" feature may be just the answer.

Google is testing a new feature called Daily Listen, which automatically generates podcasts based on your Discover stream, and confirmed to TechCrunch that Daily Listen is a personalized, AI-powered audio experience designed to help you stay informed about the topics you care about.

Currently being tested in the U.S., the Google app is available in the Android and iOS stores. It's currently available to U.S. users who participated in the company's Search Labs experiment.

Daily Listen creates short, bite-sized podcasts, up to five minutes per episode, based on topics you care about. Think of it like your Discover stream, but with an AI-generated host reading the highlights.

As you listen, you'll see scrolling transcripts and clickable links to dive further into the stories.

Google says the feature is completely tailored to your interests, with content coming from topics you follow in your search and Discover settings.

Google also notes that daily listening is similar to NotebookLM s audio overview feature, which generates podcasts with an AI virtual host based on information you share with the app, such as course reading materials or legal briefs. With daily listening, you'll get a quick overview of must-know content generated based on your personal interests.

If you have access to this feature, you'll see a new "Daily Listen" section on the home screen when you open the Google app. The card will show a play button with the length of the podcast, which you can tap to access the audio experience.

With this feature turned on, you can listen to a podcast while viewing a scrolling written transcript. Scroll down to see "Related Stories" that give you insight into topics of interest.
