Anthropic announced its Claude Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots can now reply in a variety of styles to better match a user's communication preferences, tone and structure. New styles to choose from include formal, concise and explanatory, in addition to customizable styles.
If 'Formal' is selected, Claude will respond in a clear, concise manner; 'Concise' provides shorter, more direct responses; and 'Explain' provides educational responses for learning new concepts.
If none of these work for you, Claude can generate custom styles for you. You can upload articles or documents you've written in the past, sample content that reflects your preferred communication style, specify instructions that meet your needs, and then edit your preferences as you see fit.
GitLab is an early tester of this new feature. Taylor McCaslin, its AI and ML technical product lead, said:
"Claude's ability to maintain a consistent voice while adapting to different contexts allows our team members to use different styles in a variety of situations such as writing business cases, updating user documentation, and creating and translating marketing materials. The combination of preset styles for quick alignment and customized styles to meet different user preferences makes it a very useful tool."
Using this new feature is very simple: head over to Claude.ai and below the input box you will see an option to choose between the styles listed earlier or click below to create your own.
It seems that only the web version of Claude has access to this option at the moment, as it can't be found in the Android app at the moment.
