Windsurf Next is trying to accomplish two main goals.

First of all, Windsurf does a lot of internal testing before releasing anything to the public. But Windsurf also knows that internal testing may not be able to cover a wide range of developers, different development tasks, and technical environments. So Windsurf wants to learn from real data from real developers using new features, so that it can better decide on the final combination of features and optimizations, and then integrate them into a "Wave" (Windsurf calls a set of new features or improvements a "Wave") to be released to the public. Windsurf Next is designed to do just that.

Second, and more importantly, Windsurf wants to get users up to speed with the latest and greatest features. While Windsurf Next may not be perfect right now, and you may encounter a few bugs when you first start using it, users can be at the forefront of exploring the possibilities of AI in software development with Windsurf.

Now, to briefly tell you about some of the expectations for Windsurf Next, Windsurf Next will be updated much more frequently than Windsurf Stable. In fact, Windsurf Next is being released so that Windsurf will be able to introduce innovative features at a rate of almost once a day! Windsurf is currently unsure what the final frequency of stable updates will be. Because of the frequency of updates, Windsurf Next will have fewer quality testing sessions than the stable version, so be prepared to encounter some bugs or imperfections with Windsurf Next. Considering that this is to be expected, support tickets submitted by you may not be answered or resolved, but Windsurf still appreciates your help in pointing out the problems. As an alternative, you can install Windsurf Next and Windsurf Stable at the same time.

In this way, if a problem with Windsurf Next interferes with work and you can't wait for a fix or update, you can always switch back to Windsurf Stable with no problem at all. Finally, because the features in Windsurf Next are often still under development and may not be fully Zero Data Loss Guaranteed (ZDR), Windsurf Next is still a beta product and is not available to Teams or Enterprise customers at this time.
