Knowledge of ancient books: free online reading and retrieval of ancient resources, AI assistant vernacular interpretation of the original text of ancient books

General Introduction

Knowledge Classic Ancient Books is a digitization platform for ancient books jointly launched by Peking University and Byte Jump Public Welfare, aiming to provide free online reading and retrieval services for ancient books for the public. The platform brings together more than 2,200 ancient books, including classic texts such as Zhou Yi, Zuo Zhuan, and Li Ji, and provides convenient functions such as high-definition images, conversion of simplified and traditional Chinese, and full-text search. Knowledge Classic Ancient Books utilizes advanced text recognition, automatic punctuation and named entity recognition technologies to ensure the accuracy and readability of ancient book content. In the future, the platform plans to complete the intelligent organization of 10,000 ancient books, covering the core texts of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.

Using Help

Main function operation flow

1. Browse antiquarian books: In the home page you can see the list of recommended ancient books, click on any one of the ancient books to enter the reading page.
2. Read antiquarian books::
   • Table of Contents: The left side shows the chapter catalog of the ancient books, and you can quickly jump to the corresponding chapter by clicking on the catalog item.
   • high definition image: A high-definition image of the ancient book is displayed on the right side, and the user can read it by scrolling the mouse or dragging the page.
   • conversion from simple traditional Chinese characters: Click the Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese conversion button on the page to switch the display of the ancient text.
3. full text search::
   • Enter a keyword in the search box at the top of the page and click the search button.
   • Search results are displayed at the bottom of the page, and clicking on any result will jump to the corresponding page of the ancient book.
4. automatic punctuation: During the reading process, the system automatically adds punctuation marks to the text of ancient books to improve readability.
5. Named Entity Recognition: The system will automatically identify and label the names of people and places in the text, and users can click on the label to view the details.
6. User Upload::
   • After registering and logging in to your account, click the "Upload Document" button on the page.
   • Follow the prompts to upload the documentation file, fill in the relevant information and submit.
   • Uploaded literature will be reviewed and when approved will be displayed on the platform for other users to read and research.
