Installation process

  1. downloading: Access Jan Official Website maybe GitHub Page Download the installation package for Windows, MacOS or Linux.
  2. mounting::
    • Windows (computer): Run the downloaded jan.exe file, follow the prompts to complete the installation.
    • MacOS: Download jan.dmg file, double-click to open it and drag Jan to the Applications folder.
    • Linux: Download .deb maybe .AppImage file, install it using the command line or run it directly.

Guidelines for use

  1. launch an application: After the installation is complete, open the Jan application.
  2. Select Model: Select and download the desired AI model, such as Llama, Gemma or Mistral, from the model library.
  3. local operation: Select the downloaded model, click the "Run" button and the model will be launched on the local device.
  4. Connecting Remote AI: If you need more computing power, you can configure and connect to remote AI services such as OpenAI, Groq, etc. in the settings.
  5. Using the API server: Enable the local API server in Settings, follow the prompts to configure the API key, and you can develop and test with OpenAI-compatible APIs.
  6. Customized extensions: Visit the Extension Center to download and install the required extension plug-ins to customize Jan's functionality to meet specific needs.

  • Model Download and Management::
    1. Open the Jan application and go to the Model Library.
