DeepSeek A massive malicious attack has temporarily restricted new registrations due to an attack on its online service, which has resulted in a busy registration process. This issue started to erupt around January 27, 2025 by a deepseek api error, during which registration also experienced small-scale issues.
By the early morning of January 28, the API was down for a short time and is currently causing the following problems:
- Reason for the attack: DeepSeek has stated that their service has been subjected to a "large-scale malicious attack" that has required them to temporarily restrict new user registrations.
- Registration Restrictions: In order to cope with this situation, DeepSeek has decided to only allow users with local Chinese phone numbers to register. (And China does not allow non-Chinese citizens to register non-authenticated virtual numbers.)
- Service Impact:: While new user registration is suspended, existing users can still log in and use the service.
- Investigations and processing:: The company is conducting an investigation to ensure the safety and proper functioning of the service.
It is also important to note that even if you have an account, overseas users will still be restricted from conversing due to the use of an "impure" network (recovered after gradually dealing with malicious attacks).
